Fecal incontinence is the inability to control bowel movements, resulting in involuntary soiling. In the elderly population, this is very common. For many, it is a topic they want to avoid and not openly discuss with their healthcare provider. It’s a condition that can significantly affect one’s self-confidence and may result in the patient being socially withdrawn. The patient may use adult briefs/diapers to contain the feces but the smell is still present. This course intends to discuss the appropriate interventions to assist patients with this condition.
